What if Water leaves your property?

Reverse Bow Water (反弓水) or commonly known as Reverse Bow Sha (反弓煞) is about water-flow like waterways, river, etc, moving pass in the frontage of the property with the incoming water movement crashing towards the property and as it passes the property, the outgoing water leaves the property in a curvature manner, like a reverse bow formation.

Besides water, roads and highways are also considered as virtual water, and Reverse Bow Sha (反弓煞) can also apply to the properties facing these curvature roads and highways towards them.

Why it is Bad?
The water movement is like a bow like structure pointing towards the residents whom properties are facing this water formation. It is with a dangerous feeling. Hence, the term: Reverse Bow Sha (反弓煞).

In the Feng Shui Classic (地理五诀), there is a saying about Reverse Bow water:
离乡淫乱为军盗, 流到明堂向外弯。
水发由来端忌此, 反跳不值一文钱

In the old days, this refers to separation, migration, adultery, thefts, pirates, wealth loss, etc. In the Snow Heart Classic (雪心赋), another ancient classic on Feng Shui, also mentioned that Reverse Bow water may also mean that the residents could first be blessed with good fortune, but might encounter unfavorable endeavors in their later years.

In today's context, residents may feel uncomfortable and are more prone to separation. In addition, there is also a tendency that the residents having difficulty in wealth accumulation. These may lead to affecting the residents and wealth luck in the long term basis.

Is your Property sitting on the Death and Emptiness Lines?

Main Door facing is aligned to the Main Cardinal Death and Emptiness Line

The Death and Emptiness Lines (空亡线) are degrees in the Feng Shui compass that do not foster good Qi or Life energy. These lines are to be avoided. Main door and Properties, e.g. residential or commercial buildings, tapping to these lines indicate that the Qi is unstable and will not be resided in these properties; i.e. your property might not be able to channel in the Qi or Life Energy from the external environment. Whatever good Feng Shui is assessed in the vicinity is void.

Therefore, if a property faces any of these directions, then how good the House Qi map
whether it is a Xuan Kong Flying Stars Chart or an 8 Mansion Chart,  is not usable as the energy could be unstable.

If you are using a compass or Chinese Lou-pan, you might observe that the compass could give you an incorrect reading. At times the needle of the Lou-pan would even move erratically or stuck at a particular positionWith "no or unstable Qi" in the house, some would claim that the property could be "haunted".

An illustration showing the S3 (丁) and SW1 (未) directions (circled in Green) with the bearing: 202.5 Degrees separating these 2 sectors. The 202.5 degree is one of the 8 Major Death and Emptiness Lines.

Main Door facing is aligned to the  Major Cardinal Death and Emptiness Line

Here is an example of a good location with a bad facing (吉地凶向). A couple of weeks ago, someone had written to me that he had bought an apartment unit which is facing Jade-Belt water (玉带水) structure, a good Feng Shui water formation (玉带环腰) where water curves and circulates around the properties. With this water formation in proximity, it could usher prosperous life energy or Qi to the site, fostering more Wealth and Investment opportunities as well as career advancement.

However, the property also seems to be facing Southwest1 or South3 direction. Although, in Feng Shui context, both facings are represented by 2 different Qi Map or House Charts; like the Xuan Kong Flying Stars or 8 Mansion Chart, etc, and the Qi residing in the property differs, this also indicates that this property might have a higher chance of sitting on the Death and Emptiness Lines where the Qi is rather unstable.

There are various groups of the Death and Emptiness Lines and are stated as follows:
4 Main Cardinal directions indicate the North (0 degrees), South (180 degrees), East (90 degrees), and West (270 degrees).

8 Major Death and Emptiness Lines are the directions that separate the 8 trigrams and are listed as follows in degree:
22.5, 67.5, 112.5, 157.5, 202.5, 247.5, 292.5, 337.5.

There are also Minor Death and Emptiness Lines that separate the 24 Mountains or sectors with each sector measured at 15 degrees. The negative impact of these lines is not as detrimental as the 4 main cardinal directions and the 8 Major lines.

Residents living in properties facing these directions are more prone to health, wealth, and people issues, like marital or family problems, sickness, business setbacks or failures, etc.

So, if you are currently looking for a house, it will be a good practice to ensure that your dream home does not sit on any of the undesirable Death and Emptiness Lines, or you might even invite "unnecessary guests" to your home.

Selecting a Good Property – Harnessing Good Fortune from the Vicinity

Aerial view of the SeaStrand @ Pasir Ris Condominium
site (circled in GREEN), facing Pulau Ubin as a Table
Mountain  and Serangoon Harbour in the North.
The article in this series serves as an example to assist home buyers to qualify for a good investment property or properties that could enjoy good Feng Shui and good Return on Investment or ROI with a mean to hedge against inflation. It also acts as an illustration to share the knowledge of Classical Feng Shui principles that could be used to assess a good property. This is based on the recent Seastrand Condo launch at Pasir Ris

With reference to the residential development site plan, the site is overlooking the Pulau Ubin in the North, an island that could act as a Table Mountain (案山). In Feng Shui context, a Table Mountain is a good feature where it could lock in the Sheng-Qi (生气) in the vicinity provided the external environment is able to support this structure. The current site seems to be able to benefit from this feature should the property is situated in the right facing, tapping to the vibrant Qi and channelling this energy to the property.

In many Feng Shui classics, there is a saying: 伸手摸着案, 积财千万贯. This can be literally translated as if you can stretch your arm and able to touch the tip of Table Mountain, then you could have a higher chance to accumulate wealth by the millions.

In current context, this can be referred as if you are able to view the highest tip of the Table Mountain at eye level, you could harness and benefit from the good energy that is locked in the vicinity. With a better and conducive environment, one could perform better in their life endeavors.

For a Table Mountain in the North of the site, North facing properties, especially N1 facing units (compass bearing: 337.6 – 352.5 degrees), overlooking the Table Mountain in the front are the better choice as it could benefit from this external environment.

(compass bearing: 337.6 – 352.5 degrees)
In Xuan Kong Flying Stars (玄空飞星), Water in the North for the N1 Period 8 (2004 – 2023) home brings about general good wealth and prosperity, which can lead to fostering good health, high productivity, as well as better family relationships to the residents.

The properties have a Double 8 in the North sector of the House Chart, a good sector to “see” water and high ground in the same facing direction. In this case, the property is overlooking the Serangoon Harbour and Pulau Ubin in the background.

House Chart of a South 1 Period 8 property
(compass bearing: 157.6 – 172.5 degrees)
For a South 1 Period 8 property, having water in the North sector would also bring about overall wealth luck, and creates steady career opportunities to the residents.

To further ascertain a better unit, one still requires to assess which units are the better ones among the rest, and personalizing which floor level is more suitable for the residents based on their life chart and their anticipated endeavours in life.

If you are considering investing a property in this area in a long term basis, then you might need to consider if there is any other residential development launches in the near future in the neighbourhood especially those that could block your frontage sea view, and of course the Pulau Ubin island.

Is your Property facing a 'Road Crashing Sha' (路冲煞)?

An illustration of a Road Crashing Sha (路冲煞)
When there is waterway or road coming directly towards the property, it could have invited the Road Crashing Sha (路冲煞) or T-Junction Sha.

There is a Chinese Saying:
经曰:路成丁字害难逃,有口何能下一挑,死别生离真似苦,门前有此非吉兆

The above explains that it is bad to stay in a property with the main door facing directly at the T-Junction road, as one would not escape bad luck, and might even suffer lives threatening endeavors.

If the incoming traffic is slow-moving, then the potential threat is lower and may not even pose a problem, but in reality is still very much accident prone. Hence, the residents are more prone to money losses, accident, bloodshed and even lives threatening endeavors.

Property facing an incoming road
Why it is Bad?
In our modern city with heavy traffic movement, it would arouse the disturbance of the magnetic field in the near vicinity; i.e. the heavier the traffic, the more intense the disturbance, it would increase the instability of the energy field in the area, the residents, especially those staying in the property directly facing the incoming road with heavy traffic, would feel rather uncomfortable.

Imagine every time when you open your main door and see lots of traffic coming directly towards your property, you would feel uneasy and gradually buildup a lot of undesirable stress and pressure to yourself and your family members.

These would affect the well-being and career advancement of the residents who would be threatened, challenged and hindering their endeavors ahead.

Selecting a Good Property – Ushering Wealth and Prosperity from the Dragon Gate

RiverParc Residence @ Punggol’s Waterfront city. Source from riverparc.sg

This is based on the recent RiverParc Residence at Punggol EC launch.

With reference to the Site Plan of development, this EC site could benefit from the external environment based on Feng Shui principle.

In Feng Shui context, there is a water exit in the East of this site which can be considered as the main water mouth of this area, and if your property is able to align in a specific house facing in relation to this water mouth, then you might have the potential to benefit from the Dragon Gate Eight Formations (龙门八局) water formula principle.

The Classic mentioned that for a property with a specific house facing, tapping to the water mouth at a direction with respect to the house facing, then there is a higher chance in ushering great wealth and prosperity luck to the residents.

In general, in this case with the water mouth in the East, property facing the Northeast direction would benefit from this formation. Furthermore, it is also observed that the road or waterway that coming towards the site in the Southeast direction could also ushering good wealth luck as it might also receive the Later Heaven Water (后天水) based on the water formula.

To further ascertain a better unit, one still requires to assess which units are the better ones among the rest and personalizing which floor level is more suitable for the residents based on their life chart and their anticipated endeavors in life.

Aerial view of the RiverParc Residence EC site (circled in RED), showing the Water Mouth located in the East, and the Southeast directional flow.

Other considerations that you might need to observe in investing in a good property is the external man-made structure, like the train overhead rail structure, waterway, water catchment, and future residential development in the nearby neighborhood.

With the opening of the new Serangoon reservoir in the near vicinity, the water quality in this water catchment will gradually be better and fit for consumption. With cleaner and clearer water, it would further foster a more conducive external environment that will be beneficial to the residents.

Nevertheless, this housing development enjoys the luxury of living right in the heart of the new Punggol’s waterfront city revolving around the convenience that only a new and family-friendly town can offer.
