The Master Bedroom being a place usually occupied by the married couple, partners or even one person, its indicates the personal health and love life of the occupants. In Qi Men Feng Shui (奇门风水), the Master Bedroom governs the Health and Relationship outlook of the occupants in this room.

This South-facing 4-Room Apartment unit has the Master Bedroom located in the Southwest sector of the house. Based on Qi Men (奇门), the Master Bedroom is located in the “Scenery Door” () sector. Example #2:
This South-facing 4-Room Apartment unit has the Master Bedroom located in the Southeast sector of the house. Based on Qi Men (奇门), the Master Bedroom is located in the “Harm Door” () sector. This can be considered a less favourable bedroom, as there is a tendency of lack of attraction between the couple, while once loved could be gradually reduced to be merely affection and respect, and could even lead to repulsion owing to this lack of love chemistry.

Is your HOME “Wealthy”?

The Main Door being the entrance and exit of the property is usually known as the “Qi Mouth” (气口) of your home. In Qi Men Feng Shui (奇门风水), the door location governs the Wealth aspect of the occupants, providing a “health” indication of the financial and investment capability of the occupants.

Using the 4-Room Apartment Unit as an illustration for an Internal Feng Shui Case Study assessment. It is also assumed that this is a South-facing apartment with the windows of the bedrooms overlooking a busy Main Rood.

Example #1:
This South-facing 4-Room Apartment unit has the Main Door located in the East sector (East1) of the house. Based on Qi Men (奇门), its Door Location is opened in the “Open Door” (生门) sector. This can be considered a good Door to the family, as even though when the occupants encounter hindrances or any problems, they could overcome as they have ability to withstand and recover quickly from changes or misfortune.

Example #2:
This South-facing 4-Room Apartment unit has the Main Door located in the West sector (West2) of the house. This is similar to the unit in the above example #1, but the floor plan is “mirrored”. Based on Qi Men (奇门), its Door Location is opened in the “Death Door” (死门) sector. This can be considered a Bad Door to the family, as the occupants will find that would encounter bad or chaotic experiences, leading to unfortunate mishaps.

May the Stars be with you in 2014?

The 4 Auspicious Stars and 4 Bad Stars in 2014 - Wood Horse Year (甲午年)
Every year there is a couple of very important guests who will be paying us a home visit. Some are “Good” guests while some are “Bad”.

Where are the “Bad Guys”?
The 4 unwelcome "guests” (四大凶星) in the lists are the Five Yellow (五黄), Grand Duke (太岁), Year Breaker (岁破) and Three Killings (三煞). They are known as the Annual Afflictions and in the coming 2014, they will be “flying” into your home from different directions.

The Check-In list of the Annual Afflictions is as follows:
5 Yellow (五黄) in the Northwest
Grand Duke (太岁) in the South
Year Breaker (岁破) in the North
3 Killings (三煞) in the North

How does it affect you?
It is best not to perform any renovations in these sectors in 2014 so as to reduce problematic issues, mishaps, health problems, bloodshed, injuries, etc. especially for houses that have North-South and Northwest-Southeast facing which is preferred not to do any major renovation not only for the above-mentioned sectors but for the entire house.

An Illustration of an analysis with the “Bad Guys”
In this 2 Bedroom unit, the 5 Yellow being in the Northwest sector is resided at the Main Door. This is not a good sign as the occupants will have to be more cautious about their well-being and wealth related matters in 2014. In additional, the 3 killings and Year Breaker are both located in the Dining area. As for the Grand Duke, it is located in the Bathroom, which may not create much of an impact this year. Nevertheless, it is advisable not to do any renovation, especially in the affected areas this year.

Who are the Good Guys?
Although there are unwelcome guests, there are also the good ones knocking at your door. These are the Sun (太阳), Moon (太阴), Dragon Virtue (龙德) and Fortune Virtue (福德).  These are the 4 Auspicious Stars (四大吉星)  and will be residing in to the following sectors:
Sun (太阳) in the Southwest
Moon (太阴) in the West
Dragon Virtue (龙德) in the Northeast
Fortune Virtue (福德) in the East

Here, these 4 good guys are actually auspicious energies residing in their respective sectors, and will change positions every year. You should tap to these energies and benefit from them to achieve your goals and objectives; like seeking better opportunities, improves wealth or health related endeavors, etc. If your workroom or study room is located in one of these good sectors, then my advice to you is to spend time or work in these areas more often, and you could be looking forward for a better year ahead.

An Illustration of an analysis with the “Good Guys”
In this 3 Bedroom unit, it seems that all the good guys are well-located in all the essential areas; i.e. the Dragon Virtue resides at the Main Door area, while the Sun and Moon are located in the Bedrooms, the Fortune Virtue in the Kitchen. If they are using these sectors, which I believe so as these sectors are the essential areas of the house, the occupants could be blessed with these good energies in 2014 this year, and in turns improves their well-being and wealth-related endeavors.

Home Plan Series: A Puteri Cove Residences Story

The article hopes to serve as examples to help Homeowners and new House-buyers to better understand their Dream home with the help of their property’s Floor Plan and Classical Feng Shui principles. Every Home tells a story. What is yours?
Puteri Cove Residences - located in Puteri Harbour, Iskandar Malaysia.
Click here (Case#24: Stories of Good-Value Properties) to know more about this development.

Of the 3 Towers, do you know which one has a Better Feng Shui?
Using a 2 Bedroom + Study Apartment in Puteri Cove Residences as an illustration for an Internal Feng Shui Case Study assessment. It is also assumed that this is a Northeast-facing apartment overlooking the Marina.

Generally, this apartment can be a relatively good unit for the next 10-20 years till 2043 or Period 9, enjoying good Feng Shui. The Main Door, Kitchen, Dining/Living are well-located in the good sector of the unit. From the initial assessment, Bedroom2 is best suit as work/study room. The Master Bedroom could need a little “realignment” to enable it to be more functional as a place to rest for the day.

Home Plan of a 2 Bedroom + Study Apartment in Puteri Cove Residences indicating the good and less favourable sectors
Just wondering what would be the Feng Shui analysis if the apartment next door where its unit layout is usually a “mirrored” image. In this case, Master Bedroom will be well-located in the North sector where the illustrated Living area is located as shown above, while the Main Door will be in the South sector.

A Word of Caution:
The above analysis is an illustration of a simple Feng Shui analysis based on the internal forms of the unit. This is only one aspect based on Xuan Kong Flying Stars. The external environment which contributes a more important part in a Feng Shui assessment, has not been taken into consideration.

Lastly, as most of the units in Puteri Cove Residences are either facing the Marina or Sea View, do you know which facings will benefit the residents better with reference to the water location, Feng Shui per se?

Where is your Wealth Spot?

Finding your House's Wealth Spot
Most if not all the home owner are curious to know where is the Wealth Spot (财位) of their home. Generally, there is a popular belief that the far corner of the house, which is diagonally opposite to the Main Door, would be the Wealth Spot (财位) of the house.

Why the CORNER?
It could be due to the flow of "energy" or Qi (气) residing in this area as it is the meeting point of 2 walls and usually we would also assume that this area has no openings, like windows or door, so that Qi would fulfil the effect of “resting” in this place (藏风聚气).

We would also assuming that somehow “energy” or Qi would enter our home from the outside through the Main Door, and it would then circulate within our home. But have you been wondering what if the “energy” or Qi that enter our home is not “GOOD”, as it is not analysed and qualified? It other words, you could be ushering ‘BAD” energy into your home. So beware.

Wealth Spot being diagonally located from the Main Door. But if Main Door is in the centre, then the house would be blessed with 2 Wealth Spots (财位).
Generally, there are many methods to qualify a Wealth Spot of your home for long or short term. One easy method to ascertain a permanent Wealth Spot is based on your Facing of your house.

The Following is a Summary of Wealth Spot based on your House Facing:
Your Wealth Spot based on House Facing

Example #1:
For a South Facing house, the Wealth Spot of the house is in the East sector.

Example #2:
For a Northeast Facing house, the Wealth Spot will be the West sector.

Example #3:
Using Bestari Heights, a landed development in Iskandar Malaysia as an illustration, if this property is West facing, then the Wealth Spot as based on the typical “Diagonal Corner” method and the “House Facing” method, could be the same location.
For a West Facing house, the Wealth Spot will be the North sector.
The above illustration shows the Floor Plan of 2 houses. If you are given a choice, which House will you want to own; the Left or the Right one?

Something to Think About:
If you are staying in a High-Rise Apartment or Condominium, have you been wondering what will be the facing of your unit and how do you ascertain the Wealth Spot of your unit?

Have you chosen a Good Date for a New Beginning?

Selecting a Good Date for a New beginning in any important activities.

In Date Selection (择日, 择吉), there is a Chinese saying:

The important of the Timeliness in selecting an Auspicious Date for any Important Activities
This saying could be a little exaggerated, but it emphasizes the important of the timeliness in selecting an auspicious date for any important activities. If one is not careful with the date selection, all 'bad' will break loose and heading your way; i.e. one might suffer bad effect or setback surfacing within a very short period of time.

In our present society, most of the people, regardless of whether they are the believers or non-believers in Chinese Metaphysics, regardless of different religions or faith, most of them will always cautious of selecting a good dates to sign a business contract, for commencing a new business, for marriage/wedding, for moving to a new house or house renovation, or any major activities like a New Property launch, requires a Good Date.

Everyone would want to benefit from a new and good start, with the objective to capitalize good fortune, avoiding any bad effect and setback, thus leading to a more beneficial beginning or achieving in one endeavour.

A new Property development could select an auspicious Launch Date for a good beginning, as all developers will want their projects to be successfully sell-out and with minimum issues relating to properties transaction processes from signing the contract (OTP) at the beginning till taking the keys at the end, and thereafter.
Some of the New Property Launches in Singapore and Iskandar Malaysia, 2013

In Chinese New Year, everyone will want to select an auspicious day to start work (开工) or commence their businesses (开市) with a blessing to have a good start for the new coming year.
A Business Opening Blessing on Chinese New Year

The Bottomline:
“NOBODY wants a BAD START!”

In Feng Shui, there is a common phrase that we will always worth mentioning:
發福由其地脈﹐催福出於良辰

The direct translation means: One can search for a good piece of land or environment for good fortune; but to activate or foster good fortune, one must always select an auspicious date to do so. This again emphasizes the important factor of timeliness.

The Chinese Almanac (通书) provides good information relating to selecting good Dates for various important activities, like marriage, house move-in, new business opening, etc.

Avoiding Bad Dates
In order to search for an auspicious day, one should be first avoiding the inauspicious or ‘bad’ days. The commonly days to avoid are the Year Breaker Days (岁破日), Month Breaker Days (月破日), 3 Killing Days (三煞日) and your Personal Day Breaker (命破日).

The Personal Day Breaker is based on the year of birth of an individual “crashing” the days that are with reference to the BAZI principle of the 6 crashes (六冲).
Example #1:
People born in the year of Dragon (辰年) should not select Dog days (戌日).

The Year Breaker Days (岁破日) and Month Breaker Days (月破日) are also based on the 6 crashes (六冲).
Example #2:
In 2013 which is the year of Snake (巳年), all the Boar months and days (亥月, 亥日) should be avoided.

Example #3:
In June which is the month of Horse (午月), all the Rat days (子日) should be avoid.

Selecting Good Dates
There are various methods to select auspicious or good dates. The common methods are as follows:
1. 12 Day Officers (十二值位)
2. 28 Constellations (二十八星宿)
3. Dong Gong (董公择日)

From a Date Selection Perspective, one will commonly 'remove' all the 'Bad' days as mentioned in earlier, and then make use of the above 3 methods together for date selection. With removal of 'Bad' days and selection of the 'Good' days with the above three methods, the number of auspicious days will be limited; barely few good days are left to be selected owing to the strict selection criteria. Furthermore, it is a very time consuming process, especially if there is more than 1 party to be considered.

For example, to select for an auspicious day for marriage or wedding, the Bazi (date and time of birth) of both the bride and bridegroom will be required for the selection process.

For House Moving-in activities, most if not all the Bazi of the residents staying in the same house will be preferred to be included in finding the ‘good’ dates for house moving-in.

Hence, generally, for a basic level of date selection, 1 or 2 methods in selection of good dates as above-stated, as well as those methods mentioned in the earlier in avoiding bad dates, like the 3 killings days, year and month breaker day, and personal day breaker, could be sufficient.

Generally, in the field of Date Selection, they’re many techniques. Some of the common ones are:
- Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection (玄空大卦择日法),
- Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门盾甲择日法),
- The Great Sun Formula (太阳到山择日法),
- San-Qi Date Selection (三奇择日法),
- The 4 Auspicious Stars (四大吉星择日法), and many more…

As in the above, we may use the techniques together to determine a good date. However, not all techniques can be used or used together. The usage will be depending on the type of events or activities engaged for the Date Selection. For example, the Great Sun Formula is more applicable for identifying a good date for renovation, and not so appropriate for selecting marriage dates.

The following examples are case studies that hope to illustrate the important of Date Selection.

Case Study #1
The 2008 Olympics Games in China was officially opened on the 8 of Aug 2008. Most would agree that it could be the Double 8 (8 of Aug) that this date was selected for the grand event. However, coincidentally it was also the San-Qi Ri (三奇日), an auspicious day and it is a great day for an important event, like in this case the opening of the Olympics Games.
The Official Opening of the 2008 Olympics Games in China was 8-Aug-2008. It is a San-Qi Ri (三奇日), an auspicious day for an important event.

Case Study #2
From the source in wiki, an Official Opening of a shopping mall was initially scheduled to be opened on 11 June, an auspicious day for Business Opening. However, due to tenant permit issues, the opening of the mall was delayed to 15 June instead.

There were few unfortunate incidents occurred since the Opening for business till to-date. Many would agree that these incidents were merely a coincidence. Should the official opening have not been delayed or rescheduled to another auspicious day, just wonder if the outcome could be different.

Based on the Chinese Calendar, 15 June is a Destruction Day (破日). Coincidentally, with reference to Dong Gong Date Selection principle (董公择日), it’s also an unfavourable day (破子日), not suitable for major activities.
I must make a disclaimer that having selecting a good date, does not mean that you don't need to do anything and all happenings will be 'smooth' and proper. Date Selection simply gives you a leading edge in the Time aspect. You will still need the People Action, and Right Location to complete the puzzle. In other words, you must still do your homework and work hard to achieve your goals.

Being at the Right Place, taking the Right Action, at a Right Time to achieve your Goals

Something to Think About…
The next time when you are making an important decision or managing an event, and when you are confident that you have your due diligent checklist in place, but the result is not as expected, then probably you should consider reviewing whether you have chosen an auspicious date at the beginning….
