Does Renting a House need Feng Shui?

Home plan with the Northeast Main Door and South facing the Construction Site could face more challenges owing to the annual afflictions this year
Many people has a perception that renting a house whether short or long lease does not require Feng Shui as they don't own the house.

Just recently, I met someone who had rented an apartment for a 2 year lease. I found out that the apartment was South facing with the main door opened in the Northeast. Through the conversation, I also realised that there was a massive construction site for a residential development in the neighbourhood. It was in the South of the apartment, and this would have violated the 3 Killings Sha (三煞)

This is an environmental annual affliction that could have been activated owing to the construction site in 2016. If provoked, this would cause serious unfortunate consequences for the property and its occupants. Potential problems can be expected like robberies, accidents, loss of wealth, health complications, etc.

Massive Construction Site in your neighbourhood could activate negative impact affecting you and your family members
However, he was not so concerned about this as he felt that he didn’t own the apartment, and furthermore he was leasing it for just 2 years. In addition, he could not and should not do any renovation works or fixes to the property.

My answer to him is that It’s does matter who is the owner or landlord, but only matters who is staying in the house as Feng Shui affects the occupants staying at that point of time in the property.

But as for his case, he could encounter a bigger problem. He will first need to negate or at least minimize the potential negative impact of the annual affliction of the 3 Killings Sha (三煞) in the South and probably the 5 Yellow Sha (五黄煞) in the Northeast. After all, Feng Shui remedial actions are not necessary needed to involve massive renovations, placement of objects or figurines to fence off the negative effects.

My advice to those prospective tenants is that it will make more sense to select and stay in a good living space with better Feng Shui, and at the same time supports your life endeavours at least during the tenancy. Hence, a Home Selection with Feng Shui is preferred as part of the your Personal Tenancy Check-list when considering leasing a home. Should you have already in the tenancy, then you should at least ascertain the "well being" of the living space with a basic Feng Shui Analysis as this would also affect your life endeavours and probably to improve your wealth opportunities during the stay.

The Double 5 effect on your Home

A Double 5-Yellow Sha in the Northeast in the Month of Feb-2016
For those who are staying in a house with the facade facing Northeast or their House's Main Door opened in the Northeast, the following should interest you.

In this month, the Northeast sector will be extremely “negative” as the annual and monthly 5 Yellow sha are residing in this sector. There is a Chinese saying: 五黄重叠灾病. This can be translated as with presence of both 5 Yellow Sha (五黄煞) being activebe prepare to encounter a series of concealed or hidden problems and agenda for the whole year. The severity of the impact could also be magnified owing to the Double 5 effectThis would affect your personal wellness and incidents encounter might be disastrous and in some cases fatalistic.

However, the negative impact will only be activated should there be major refurbishment, renovation or drilling works in the Northeast sector or construction site can be seen outside this area.

Important to Note:
For those who are curious and want to try to activate the Double 5, you should beware of the after-effect consequences with this "Acid Test".

What about a Quad 5?
Besides the Annual and Month, the 5 Yellow sha will also appear in the Day and Hour. As meeting an annual 5 Yellow sha is "bad", but it could be disastrous when 3 others also meet at the same time, and this can be seen in Feb 2016. So beware.

You might consider to seek professional help from a Feng Shui practitioner for advice to negate of at least reduce the negative impact of the annual afflictions should you have already activated it unintentionally, or automatically by your neighbour renovation works or through the construction works in the neighbourhood in the Northeast. Is Feng Shui an Art of Placement?

A Collection of Feng Shui Items and Figurines
More than ten years ago, I was a fanatic of objects and figurines. Usually, just before the New Year, I would usually grab an Annual Feng Shui Assessment Magazine, and based on the recommendation of the magazine, I would usually spent hundreds of dollars to invest in Feng Shui items to negate the 3 Killings (三煞), Grand Duke of Jupiter or Tai Sui (太岁) and the 5 Yellow Sha (五黄煞). Items can be Crystal Mountains, Wind Chimes, Qi-Lin (a dragon-head horse-body creature), etc.

These are negative energies or Sha-Qi that are expected to reside in the specific locations in the house of the year. At times, more special items are recommended to enhance your Personal Luck, Career, Romance, etc. The reason to buy these items is simple; to have a peaceful coming year for the family, and in hope that these Feng Shui enhancers can help to improve our lives.

Is the above-mentioned sound familiar to you, or does this happening to people around you? I believe there are people like me; a year-end buyer of Feng Shui items.

I am not saying that placement of objects is not useful, and it would be beneficial as long it helps you to feel better and give you a peace of mind to “see” more opportunities and improve your lives. However, every year new items are released in the market and introduced to me. Most of the time, you are advised to place the items in different locations on an auspicious day. This made me ask myself a question as it is becoming more superstitious and mysterious. Is Feng Shui a placement of objects in a specific place at a specific date to negate the “bad luck” of the year, or something else?

Coincidentally, as I was in a local bookstore, I saw DVDs talking about Period 8 Feng Shui and Xuan Kong Feng Shui. That year, I decided to make a change to invest on these DVDs instead of the Feng Shui items. After watching the DVDs, my views about Feng Shui changes drastically. Many questions on Feng Shui are answered. I started to do more research, but Classical Feng Shui books written in English are very limited. I’ve decided to attend courses to fulfil my curiosity and in hope to unlock more answers. It has since aroused my interest and assisted me to open a wider gateway to Classical Feng Shui exploration.
Modern and Nature Landforms
The answer on Classical Feng Shui context:
Classical Feng Shui is about assessing the quality of life energies or Qi through observations and analysis of the living environment to achieve our goals in life. It is not about the Art of Placement of objects, it is neither your lucky numbers nor favourable colours you wear, the curtains that you hang, the sofa that you sit on, the wall that you painted in your home, the list goes on….. , but it is about using the living space in your home supported by the external environment, enriching lives with more opportunities available to you, and fulfilling your endeavours in life.

No Feng Shui Classics or Scripts documented in ancient China as far as back in the Tang, Ming and the later Ching Dynasties of China had mentioned about placement of objects. In a logical mindset, one will not believe that Dynasties were conquered by just painting a wall with your favourable colours..
