Are you Overshadowed in this Pandemic?

In Chinese Metaphysics, every year there is an image representing a "general feeling" of the year would-be happenings, usually known as an Annual Hexagram​. In 2020 which is also the Metal-Rat (庚子) year, the image that symbolizes it is the Darkness (地火明夷) hexagram.

The image denotes "Fire is covered by Earth", which leads to the keyword, Darkness. In this context, Fire could refer to your Passion, Talents and with Earth covering this, it indicates that many of our life ambitions and endeavors could be overshadowed this year.

"Darkness can also mean Danger, Evil, Uncertainty where the Future is unclear."

Coincidentally this seems to be happening in the past months, many people are restrained and restricted at home, businesses closed, events canceled, and these have disrupted the vibrancy of many cities coming to a standstill and to their knees.

As the WHO has also recently warned that the pandemic is far from over, this has greatly and will be continuing impact the economy big and small, affecting our livelihood. With the much uncertainty owing to the current crisis, it will be preferred to focus on our short term plans at least for now as the situational changes are very dynamic and unclear during this period. Here we are not talking about years, but every month counts.

This Darkness hexagram would suggest that it is best to hold back important plans & decisions, lie low for the time being to consolidated and restore your energies, like picking up new skills, upgrade your knowledge, generally towards investing more effort into self-development​. This can prepare us to become a better version of ourselves thriving in the new normal.

The Hills for Health in your vicinity


I've met a friend yesterday for a chat and interesting somehow our conversation led to Forett @ Bukit Timah, a new launch in the Bukit Timah precinct. As usual, we have a casual talk on how’s the Feng Shui of this development.


Generally, with not 1 but 2 hills in its vicinity, it can’t be too bad. In fact, thanks to these hills that the residents could be blessed with good health and people luck.


Besides the external environment, the time factor also plays an important role in ascertaining the Feng Shui quality of the home. Are you Doubling your Risk in Health?

In this current time especially with the Covid-19 outbreak at the brink of becoming a Global Pandemic, getting healthy is most important, especially for people born in the year of the Horse.

Consider avoiding using the South sector when possible this year, especially this month where the negative impact of this sickness energy will be double, and in some days will triple. To make the negativity even worse, the Three Killings (三煞) annual affliction is also residing in the South this year.

What is so fearful seeing a Double 5?

If the Annual Five Yellow star(五黄煞) residing in the East sector is unfavorable, then the arrival of the Monthly Five Yellow star in the month of March, can even aggravate this sector to a new level of negativity. In other words, there are 2 Five Yellow stars residing in the East sector in the same month, where the energies are extremely negative between 5 Mar and 3 Apr. So beware.

So, what is so fearful about this Double 5 in the East?
Let refer to a past event 9 years ago. If you remember the March 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, where this catastrophic event claimed thousands of lives and many went missing. That year was also the time where the Annual and Month Five Yellow star(五黄煞) resided in the East sector. Many will claim that it is merely a coincidence but observing the current crisis in Asia and afar, unpleasant events have happened and seem still happening. 

Although we can't manage the macro situation, we can still micromanage our lives and loved ones. So beware of your activities in the month of March this year.

If you are currently encountering unpleasant issues and suspect you might have disturbed the Five Yellow star, such as recurring health issues after being treated, or perhaps conflicts or problems occurring among the family members and with others after moving into a new house or have done a renovation work in the East sector of your home, and also if your home is East facing.

This can be likely a Feng Shui issue and it is recommended to seek professional Feng Shui help to remedy this situation.

Have you invited the problematic 5 to your Home?

 The East sector is one of the worst sectors for the year 2020 where the Annual Five Yellow star(五黄煞) resides. It should be preferably be avoided or at least use less often for any major activities, like renovation, groundbreaking, throughout the year. Disturbing this area could lead to serious repercussions, such as career blockages or stagnation, business deals being terminated leading to monetary loss, potential illness, injuries or accidents and at times it can be fatal.
A  renovation work for your home could be determinant if not careful

 If it is impossible to avoid using this area, such as your bedroom, family area or perhaps the East sector is where your main door located, then it will be best to negate or at least reduce this negative energy using more metal items in this area. 

 Also, be more cautious should your home is East facing, or perhaps a construction site in the East in the vicinity of your home as this could mean potential problems may be knocking at your door this year.

Should major renovation is impossible to be avoided or postponed, especially for new homeowners who need to move into their new residence this year, it is recommended to seek professional Feng Shui advice to begin renovation works.

The recent sales launch of Executive Condominium and Build to Order new public housing development have thrown Canberra precinct into the limelight, such as the Parc Canberra, Canberra Vista.

 Canberra Vista which is located along Canberra Drive will comprise 1467 new homes with unit types ranging from 2-room Flexi, 3-, 4-, 5-room, and 3Gen flats.

Parc Canberra which opens for booking on 15 Feb, has seen more than 60% of the available units been taken up over the first 2 days. It comprises of 10 residential blocks, housing  496 new homes with wide unit mixes ranging from 2-bedroom + Study to 5-bedroom homes, with some types build with utility and yard.

Some homebuyers will feel that the prices of these new homes are attractive compared to the earlier similar launches, and perhaps being located in a relatively good location.

 In Feng Shui, a good location should observe 5 features in its external environment; ie. the Mountain ranges, Mountains/hills, Water, the Meridian Spot, and the Orientation. In Canberra precinct, it has gotten at least 2 out 5, which is the Mountains/Hills and Water as there is a Chinese saying:山管人丁水管财. A place with closed-proximity to these features could be blessed with good fortune for wealth and abundance, fostering a better living condition. With strong Water and Metal in the Metal Rat year could denote people are more prone to contracting illness relating to these elements; such as health problems relating to the Lung, Kidney, and Bones, etc. Hence, more respiratory and diabetic cases could be on the rise. People with existing illnesses relating to the heart, blood and perhaps the stomach may also have to be cautious. Are you Emotionally Stressed in 2020?

The Geng Zi (庚子年) or commonly known as the Metal Rat year denotes strong metal and water elements. There is a Chinese saying: 金水多情. This could mean that more people could be emotionally stressed. And when the metal and water elements are relatively strong, more relationships related problems perhaps scandals could rise, especially when the Rat year is also a Peach Blossom year (桃花年). So beware. 

 Feel relaxed and positive, and be more rational in your thoughts and actions can help to reduce this anxiety.
